Weekend o' Christmas Fun (Part One)

Only three more days till Christmas! Only three more days of "No, Samuel, that's a no-no present. It's also inedible. No touch! No eat!" Only three more days of cheesy Josh Groban covers! (Seriously, dude needs to STOP.)

Our weekend was filled with family and Christmas lights. Here's a rundown of all the fun:

Saturday night: Grilling burgers, Uncle Matt coming over, eating burgers, trying to get Sammy to eat burger(s), realizing Sammy was not going to eat burger(s), offering Sammy red kidney beans (from a can), watching Sammy eat said red kidney beans (from a can) and thinking, "Wow. Who prefers [canned] beans to freshly grilled burgers? Just wow," rushing to Book People to watch It's a Wonderful Life with church friends, visiting with Immanuel folks we haven't seen in way too long, having to leave early 'cause Sammy's a wuss and can't handle sitting still for any length of time, coming home to wassail (yeah, we still have lots), and staying up late watching Uncle Matt eat a serving size of bread pudding fit only for (a) some sort of mammoth-sized animal or (b) a really, really, really obese person.

Sunday: Making breakfast tacos, Samuel refusing to eat anything but yogurt for breakfast, driving to Fredericksburg to see Will's Oma and Opa, eating oh-so-tasty fried chicken, sweet rice, mashed potatoes, and PEACH PIE, wondering if Sammy would ever run out of energy, watching him not running out of energy, visiting with Oma,Opa, and Uncle Matt, observing as Sammy attempts to feed Oma his goldfish, rare and wonderful nap time (for baby AND Mama!), seeing Will's Aunt Shelley at HEB, going home by way of Johnson City, stopping at the electric company to see the lovely lights, Samuel running around to keep from freezing, Samuel chasing strangers while making weird grunts and shouts, thawing out in the car, trying to coax Sammy into another nap with about 32 rounds of "Jesus loves the little Sammies...all the Sammies of the world...red and yellow, black and white, etc. etc. etc." (Raising a narcissistic child? Nah.), stopping by Heath's new Starbucks for some late night coffee, bedtime for Samuel, and Mama wasting time on the internet while Papa folds laundry (I love my husband).

At Will's Oma and Opa's, being weird:

Group shot:

Papa, Sammy, and another tree to demolish! Yipppeeee!

"Even though I just touched the no-no stereo for the umpteenth time, I can make this cute little blurble-gurgle sound and escape a little trip to the corner. 'Cause I'm that cute, guys."
