New Mexico! Colorado!

We had a lovely vacation! Santa Fe is one my favorite places in the world, and we enjoyed exploring Colorado with sweet friends. Gorgeous weather, great friends, only occasional vomiting.* Good times!

Here are a few pics, and a link to many, many more:

*Samuel was responsible for the vomiting. We were in the middle of dinner, when he said "tummy" and then threw up everywhere. Probably related to altitude and a weird diet of blueberries, milk, toast, and Clif bars. Baby was fine after that. He ran around screaming/laughing like a maniac. Really.

The top ten things I learned while on vacation:
1. Your son will entertain you with weird pronunciations of words. (For example: "wee-moo" means windmill, "Hammy" means Sammy, and "ick" and "eck" refer to the words "lick" and "elk," respectively.)
2. Bring a sweater to Santa Fe. And a hat. Otherwise you will be cold in the 50 degree mornings (FOR REAL), and your scalp will burn. Or, borrow your husband's hat, convincing him that his scalp will be fine.
3. Adolescents who stop at gas stations in Lubbock will, more than likely, say amazing things like "There's all kinds of taffy in there!" and "That saltwater taffy don't taste no different than regular taffy!" about a gas station's less than stellar taffy selection. Makes for great conversation.
4. Colorado has lots and lots of mountains. They are all beautiful.
5. The world's ugliest building is in Clovis, New Mexico. Don't believe me? Picture this: a stucco, Gothic, castle-like structure from 1982, housing a large collection of "leather" and "motorcycle gear" and "leather jackets." I really, really should have taken a picture.
6. There is no such thing as too many green chiles. But, in deference to the limitations of your stomach, you should probably fast for three months before traveling to New Mexico.
7. Colorado has great Indian food. I mean GREAT. So great your dining experience will not be ruined when your kid vomits unexpectedly. You will clean up your kid, your mess, and continue drinking chai and eating saag paneer and samosas.
8. It's nice to have friends who don't mind your son's blood curdling screams of joy. I LOVE THOSE FRIENDS.
9. There is nothing to do in Lubbock. There is nowhere to eat in Lubbock.
10. There's a town in Texas called Progress. From what I could see, it consists of a handful of abandoned shacks.

Thanks for taking such beautiful pictures! I miss the mountains so much...ooooh, WANT, WANT, WANT! We're also, of course, glad you're back in town. Lets set a day next week when Sammy can come over and play with our kitties while ya'll get a bit of an escape! Maybe Monday? Tuesday?
