3. Free live music at City Hall every Friday at noon. Calendar, here. We're big fans of Grupo Fantasma and can't wait to see them again in May.
4. Hikes along the Barton Creek Greenbelt, followed by breakfast tacos at Tacodeli. Or preceded by breakfast tacos at El Chilito. Either way, you get breakfast tacos which means it's the best day OF YOUR LIFE. Also, check out this New York Times article on tacos and Austin and why we slackers love our cheap breakfast fare.
5. Bats underneath Congress Bridge! Upside: bats. Downside: bats.
6. Picnics at the capitol! Beautiful trees, plenty of space for the kiddo to run around, and the lovely capitol building in the background: fun times.

8. South Congress with its glorious food and coffee and people. Food: Home Slice, NOT GUERO'S NEVER GUERO'S, Vespaio Enoteca (Vespaio's cheaper deli and cafe), and Amy's for ice cream. (I'm pretty sure Amy's has the world's most obnoxious home page, though. No. Wait. That title obviously goes to this site. That's right: the home page of the knitting collective known as Knitta, Please. Just wow.) Coffee: Jo's. People: American Apparel meets Annie Hall meets Annie Clark meets a keffiyeh.
9. Saturday morning trips to the Barton Creek Farmers Market (formerly the Sunset Valley Farmers Market) which changed its name and location but is still awesome. Also, still in a parking lot.
10. Pizza at Niki's. Awesome pizza, five minutes from our house: YES.
11. Barton Springs and Zilker Park. Swimming in freezing water! (More fun than it sounds, especially on hot summer days.) Playground fun! The Zilker Zephyr! Can sometimes get so busy you wonder if people know there are other parks in Austin!
12. Central Market for more playground fun with the kiddo and live music in the evenings.
13. Cinnamon rolls from Upper Crust! Best cinnamon rolls ever.
14. Sugar Mama's Bakeshop for cupcakes. Sammy's hands-down favorite place for sweets. His take on the James Brown (chocolate topped with chocolate): "Sammy never stop eating this!" His take on Sugar Mama's, in general: "Mama is sugar mama?" No, son. No.
Any Austin spots you love that I didn't mention? We're still sort of new to town and love a good recommendation. But, seriously, if you say anything good about Guero's, I will judge you.

Elizabeth, ahem, I said that this list was in no way comprehensive. But, yes, we love love LOVE Upper Crust! You are right. Maybe I should amend the post. :)

thanks, Heidi! i had to say something since it seems like those flaky cinnamon-y goodies come up in almost EVERY conversation that we have ; ) why do we love food so much?
