Happy Birthday, Opa and Dida!

This was a birthday weekend! Both Opa (8/05) and Dida (8/17) had birthdays, and we had a good two days of celebrating and eating. Here's Sammy boy with his Opa and sweet cousin Caiden:

The babies (little boys?) actually played together this time, instead of the usual: played side by side, Caiden with his toys and Samuel attempting to eat/lick/step on Caiden. They were so sweet. Caiden gave Sammy kisses, and Sammy gave his cousin big hugs. Samuel also reinforced our suspicions that he's really just using us all to get closer to ceiling fans. He even "heiled" the fan in Oma and Opa's bedroom (that's right...like the little German boys in all those WWII films...YIKES!) with one outstretched arm and a really frighteningly good "heil." (Note: We are not steeping our child in Nazi dogma; apparently, this is Samuel's way of expressing himself and communicating his intense devotion to...the ceiling fan.) Sunday lunch and afternoon were spent with Dida, celebrating his special day. Mama made a Torta that was oh-so-delicious! We also got to visit with Ami, Aunt Jane and Uncle Skip, and Aunt Mary and Uncle Buzz. Samuel was a little toot and kept running around the living room, from one toy, object, or person to the next. He RUNS now. He also ate about 25 blueberries. Apparently, he loves blueberries. Here's a picture of the Meurers three and birthday-boy Dida:
