Oma Turns 90!

Saturday was Oma's 90th birthday party! (This is Will's Oma, of course. Not to be confused with Sammy's Oma who is very not-90.) Both of Will's brothers came down for the occasion, and we had a great time visiting with them and watching Samuel interact with his uncles. Uncle Nik brought Sammy a birthday present: a moving pelican that stores red, yellow, and green balls in his bill! Samuel was mostly excited about the balls and, more specifically, the yellow ball. Apparently, yellow is his new red. Here's a picture of Sammy and his new toy:

The birthday party was in Fredericksburg, and many, many people showed up to celebrate with Oma! She is definitely loved. Sammy finally got to meet his cousin (second cousin?) Braxton who is about two months older than him. He is adorable and loves getting into anything and everything! Cutest moment of the day? Samuel chasing Braxton around the room, then catching him and hugging him (no joke; he ever-so-sweetly hugged him and smiled the most angelic little smile), then watching in confusion as Braxton started screaming and crying in fear of this affectionate little red-headed kid. Braxton was TERRIFIED of Samuel. Why? Who knows. Maybe Sammy gives off a bully vibe. (He is pretty tall...) Maybe his huge feet were too intimidating. Maybe Braxton mistook Sammy's affection for some sort of weird passive-aggresive baby attack mode. Needless to say, we had to keep Sammy away from him for the remainder of the afternoon. Hopefully, the poor kid did not have nightmares about strange red-headed babies showering him with kisses. But, I suppose, there could be worse things.
