Today we took Sammy to the Austin Children's Museum. We have not been there with him before and were so glad we went! (Some of you may know that Will used to work there during graduate school...he was their go-to technology guy.) Samuel loved all the lights, noises, balls, colors, shapes, etc., though it was evident toward the end of our time there that he desperately needed a nap. Here he is at the "it's-never-too-early-to-teach-your-child-to-drive" station:
His favorite part of the museum was the area devoted entirely to infants and babies to 24 months of age. He thought the little golf balls were amazing, and, of course, he had to taste them. (Cropped out of the photo: my hand attempting to yank the no doubt germ-laden ball away from him).
We went to the park again, so that Papa could help us with the slides. (Sliding was a failure Friday, as Samuel did not like the idea of sliding to nowhere. Much better with a friendly, familiar Papa face at the bottom.) He LOVED the tall slide, and we went "one more time" about 15 times. These people are obviously having fun:
Swinging was another story. Will pushed him in this nice little swing, and Sammy looked bored/tired/expressionless the entire time. We think he may have actually fallen asleep at one time. We got one very small, very forced smile and this nosy-Sammy face, where he was most likely checking out a passing bicyclist, stray kitty, or cute little girl:
Our day ended with barbecue at Iron Works with our good friend Heath, who is very soon MOVING TO AUSTIN! We're excited. Also, he introduced this blog and book to us: Stuff White People Like. It is hilarious and accurate and embarrassing. My favorites? #80: The Idea of Soccer and #63: Expensive Sandwiches.
